Board Chair's report

Evergreen Tress

2019 has been a year of planning and development.  With the well-deserved retirement of our volunteer coordinator Cheri Huys and the anticipated future retirement of other senior staff members, the agency began the process of succession planning, along with the development of a three-year strategic plan.  Working with a local facilitator Liz Palmieri, the strategic plan has been designed to focus on capacity building, program development and increased community awareness of the impact of Sexual Violence.
As with many not for profit organizations our need to fundraise is paramount as we work diligently to meet the increasing demands of our community. In 2019 we received the unexpected donation of $30,000 from Branch 51 of the Royal Canadian Legion.  This donation, along with other successful fundraising endeavors, has provided us with the resources needed for continued program development.
As we move forward into a new decade we take with the us lessons learned and the continued hope that together we will bring about social and systemic change.
Once again, we thank our fabulous volunteers, donors, and supporters who enable us to help survivors, educate our youth and community, and advocate to bring awareness to the issues surrounding sexual violence.

With Gratitude,
